Roberts Co strengthens Queensland pipeline with second Gold Coast ECI appointment

“Queensland is a key growth market for Roberts Co and securing two ECI engagements in close succession demonstrates developers’ confidence in our front-end capability,” Daniel Nijam, General Manager - Pre-Construction

Roberts Co has been appointed Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) partner for the $110 million Halcyon Place development at 4 Fern Street, Surfers Paradise — marking its second Gold Coast ECI engagement in recent months and reinforcing the company’s growing Queensland portfolio.

The appointment follows Roberts Co’s recent ECI role on Sunset Residences, highlighting increasing confidence in the company’s Tier 1 capability within South East Queensland’s premium residential market.

Selected following a competitive ECI process, Roberts Co will work with the developer and Plus Architecture to progress design development, construction methodology and delivery strategy ahead of formal construction commencement.

Halcyon Place will deliver a 29-level mixed-use tower with 96 apartments on a prominent 1,378sqm corner site near the beachfront. The design responds to coastal and urban conditions through stepped façades, articulated form and a modulated podium that reduces bulk while enhancing street-level engagement.

Daniel Nijam, General Manager – Pre-Construction at Roberts Co, said the consecutive ECI appointments reflect the growing importance of early contractor collaboration.

“Queensland is a key growth market for Roberts Co and securing two ECI engagements in close succession demonstrates developers’ confidence in our front-end capability,” Mr Nijam said.

“In a constrained coastal environment, early contractor involvement is critical to resolving structural systems, façade methodology, logistics and sequencing. ECI allows us to manage risk, protect design intent and establish the foundations for efficient delivery.”

The development incorporates ground-plane activation, a curved podium break for a distinctive arrival, and a residential park retaining the site’s historic Norfolk Pines.

During the ECI phase, Roberts Co will focus on buildability optimisation, procurement planning, coastal durability considerations and construction staging — ensuring alignment between design intent, methodology and program outcomes.

In association with Sydney Land Company, Stuart Bell of Kingsley Bell, said early engagement was central to achieving the project’s objectives.

“Halcyon Place requires high-level coordination between design and construction from the outset,” Nijam said.

“Engaging Roberts Co under an ECI model ensures methodology, sequencing and risk are addressed alongside design development, providing confidence as the project moves toward delivery.”

The construction program will involve dozens of trades and subcontractors, generating work for the local Queensland workforce and supporting the regional supply chain.

Now part of the Arada Group, Roberts Co combines Tier 1 capability and financial strength with an agile, relationship-led delivery model. Backed by Arada’s strong balance sheet and long-term investment approach, the company continues to expand its Queensland presence while maintaining a disciplined and collaborative approach to delivery.

Construction is anticipated to commence following completion of the ECI phase and final design resolution.
